About the International Maritime Industry Exhibition

Italport-90: this was the name of the largest exhibition held in Odessa.



Its organizers are the Ministry of Merchant Marine of Italy, the Ministry of Navy of the USSR, the Black Sea Shipping Company, the regional and city executive committees of Odessa, as well as the administration of the Liguria region and the province of Genoa.



A lot of time and energy was spent by many experts from the two countries to ensure that the ship of this idea set sail and safely moored in Odessa.



The exhibition, located on the berths of the Odessa Sea Station in a huge tent, attracted the attention of tens of thousands of visitors.



However, this is not surprising: this is the first time that an international exhibition of this scale, which tells about economics, science and technology of the maritime and port economy, is being organized in Odessa.



On an area of 2,500 square meters, samples of the latest equipment and port equipment, numerous operating models and stands were placed, introducing the technological processes of cargo and ship repair work, more than 130 of the largest private and public Italian firms and organizations. The visitors were introduced to all this by qualified guides who were ready to give the necessary advice and answer questions of interest, of which there were many, in particular, from specialists — representatives of shipping companies, ports, ship repair plants, educational and research institutions of the industry who arrived in Odessa.



On the Italian side, the main points of sea communication with the USSR are the ports of Genoa, Savona, Trieste, Venice, Livorno, Ravenna, Ancona and Naples. In addition, it should be remembered that Soviet tourist routes through Italy pass through Genoa.
